Gwyneth Paltrow makes 'SNL' cameo as Goop manager, spoofs herself and her company - USA TODAY

Gwyneth Paltrow made a surprise cameo on this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live" – and the jokes were all on her.

During an appearance in the Weekend Update sketch, the actress and wellness guru played a manager of her lifestyle company Goop trying to reassure a fellow employee (played by Heidi Gardner) that she wouldn't get fired after messing up while talking about the brand's products.

"I need your help, because I'm really afraid Gwyneth's going to fire me," Gardner says to the Paltrow.

"No, she doesn't believe in firing, remember? It's called conscious un-employing," Paltrow reassures her, referencing her 2014 split from Chris Martin, which was described as a "conscious uncoupling."

Paltrow then tries to help out by taking over Gardner's job of describing the products.

"OK, we have a new Himalayan salt scrub and it is the number one salt scrub... rated number one in overall salt," she says, slowing down as she struggles for what else to say about the product. "I'd actually like to tell you what salt is instead."

"I know what salt is," Michael Che retorts.

"So you know it's angry sugar?" Paltrow replies.
