Ousted Recording Academy CEO Deborah Dugan says she has "evidence" that the Grammy Awards process is "ripe with corruption."
With only days until the award show, Dugan filed an explosive discrimination complaint against the academy Tuesday alleging unlawful gender discrimination, sexual harassment, unlawful retaliation and unequal pay.
During an appearance on "Good Morning America" Thursday, Dugan elaborated on a specific section of her complaint that claimed an artist was allowed to sit in on the song of the year nomination committee last year.
"There are incidents of conflicts of interest that taints the results... It's not even just that one room," she said, without naming the artist. "I have evidence that in another room, cause there were complaints in the jazz category –"
"So you do have evidence? ... Where are you going to present that?" "GMA's" George Stephanopoulos cut in.
"I have a claim that I filed," she responded.
On Tuesday, the Recording Academy pushed back against Dugan's allegations.
“It is curious that Ms. Dugan never raised these grave allegations until a week after legal claims were made against her personally by a female employee who alleged Ms. Dugan had created a ‘toxic and intolerable’ work environment and engaged in ‘abusive and bullying conduct,'" read a statement from the academy, sent by spokesperson Lourdes Lopez.
The statement continues: "When Ms. Dugan did raise her 'concerns' to HR, she specifically instructed HR 'not to take any action' in response. Nonetheless, we immediately launched independent investigations to review both Ms. Dugan’s potential misconduct and her subsequent allegations. Both of these investigations remain ongoing.”
USA TODAY has reached out to the academy for further comment on Dungan's statements on "Good Morning America."
Despite the controversies surrounding this year's show, Dugan said she'll still be watching.
"I worked very hard on the show, and I love the artists that are going to be performing, and I love all those that are nominated that don't get the honor of being on the show," she said.
