Halsey, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber And Pop Smoke: 5 Major Moves On This Week’s U.K. Singles Chart - Forbes

Hip-hop may rule the U.K. singles chart this week, but some of the biggest pop stars make waves with brand new releases. One of the U.K.’s most revered performers, who is now 103 years old, returns to the ranking as well, scoring yet another placement more than half a century into her career.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s U.K. singles chart.

No. 1 - DaBaby - “Rockstar (ft. Roddy Ricch)”

For much of the past week, it looked like Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber were headed toward the No. 1 spot on the U.K. singles list with their new collaboration “Stuck With U,” but that did not end up happening. Instead, rappers DaBaby and Roddy Ricch vault from sixth place to first with “Rockstar,” the biggest single from the former’s latest album Blame It on Baby. The tune, an unexpected smash, is the first champion for both stars.

No. 4 - Justin Bieber & Ariana Grande - “Stuck With U”

Speaking of Bieber and Grande, the two might not have collected another No. 1 hit with “Stuck With U,” but they have managed another top 10 with their latest. The tune, the first taste of a charity album featuring contributions from some of the biggest names in the music industry, starts its time on the list at No. 4, giving Bieber his milestone twentieth appearance inside the region and Grande her sixteenth.

No. 40 - Marshmello & Halsey - “Be Kind”

Last week, Marshmello and Halsey missed the top 40 with their collaborative new single “Be Kind,” but in its second frame of availability the tune has performed better. The cut, still unattached to any full-length, steps up to No. 40, becoming another top 40 win for the two artists. Marshmello has now collected half a dozen top 40 hits in the U.K. and Halsey has landed 10.

No. 55 - Vera Lynn - “We’ll Meet Again”

One of the most respected vocalists in U.K. history, Vera Lynn is back on the charts this week with a song that’s now more than 50 years old. The powerhouse’s “We’ll Meet Again,” one of her most beloved tracks, appears on the ranking for the first time, landing at No. 55, despite the fact it was released back in the ‘50s. The song surges thanks to millions in the nation commemorating VE Day.

Last month, an updated take on the cut which featured Katherine Jenkins and Lynn opened at No. 72. That means that despite not charting for the first 50-something years it was available, the tune has now appeared inside the top 100 in two different forms in only a matter of weeks.

No. 65 - Lil Tjay - “Zoo York (ft. Fivio Foreign & Pop Smoke)”

Hip-hop talent Lil Tjay’s new mixtape State of Emergency lands on the U.K. albums ranking this week, but perhaps more exciting is the No. 65 debut of “Zoo York,” one of the songs featured on the project. The tune features newcomer Fivio Foreign and Pop Smoke, who was killed earlier this year just as his career was experiencing a very important boom. “Zoo York” is Smoke’s fourth placement on the U.K. singles chart, and it currently sits one rung behind his breakout smash “Dior.”
