Due to the ongoing travel and regulatory restrictions for large scale events, we have decided that holding C3AFA Singapore this year is not sustainable for both our customers and stakeholders. It is with much regret that we have to cancel C3AFA Singapore 2020. AFA (Anime Festival Asia) in Singapore has been held without fail since 2008, becoming an iconic event for all Japanese Pop Culture lovers in Singapore and the region to look forward to every year. With such strong interests and following by the region’s Japanese pop culture lovers in mind, we have decided to launch a free to view online festival - AFA Singapore 2020 Online, on the first weekend of December 2020. The event will be featuring exclusive contents from invited guests and merchandise from partner brands. While the physical experience of Anime Festival Asia as we have all come to know may not be fully replicated, we hope that the spirit of the event will live on online. We hope many in the region will also tune in to this event online. We look forward to meeting all our customers and stakeholders online instead this year, and hope to see continued support from everyone, as we all stand in solidarity towards a brighter future together. The online event will run from Dec. 5 to 6, featuring “exclusive content from invited guests and merchandise from partner brands”. The online festival charges no fee, but attendees must register to get access. Details about the online festival will be announced on C3AFA’s social media.

“We look forward to meeting all our customers and stakeholders online instead this year, and hope to see continued support from everyone, as we all stand in solidarity toward a brighter future together,” said Chin.

Initiated in 2008, C3AFA is part of a collaboration between SOZO and Sotsu, the organizer of C3. In 2019, the C3AFA Singapore attracted more than 120,000 people and won the Best Leisure Event in Singapore by Singapore Tourism Awards for its 2018 edition. Its first installment in Indonesia took place in 2012.

In August, it launched an online platform AFA Station to bring the event’s offline experience to the digital realm. (wir/wng)
