WWE Hall of Famer made a shocking return on this week's Friday Night SmackDown. Universal Champion Roman Reigns was about to address the WWE Universe when the Edge's music echoed in the Thunderdome. The Rated-R superstar quickly walked into the ring and attacked The Head of The Table.

Reigns managed to negate Edge's threat by hitting him with a Superman Punch. But the former WWE Champion made a comeback with a spear. Edge was attacked by Jimmy Uso when he walked out to bring a chair into the ring. Edge reversed Jimmy's attempt to send him into the steel steps and then hit him with a spear through the barricades.

By the time Edge returned to the ring, Reigns had walked up to the entrance area. Edge's comeback sort of confirms that he wil be challenging Reigns for the Universal Championship at Money in the Bank. The Universal Champion has conquered almost every top superstar on the Smackdown roster so far.

Edge, who won the Royal Rumble 2021, had challenged Reigns at Wrestlemania 37 too. The one-on-one match between the two was converted into a triple-threat match with Daniel Bryan's addition. Interestingly, Reigns pinned both Edge and Bryan together to retain his championship.

Edge went on a break after the event and made his first WWE appearance since April. On the other hand, Bryan stayed on SmackDown roster and challenged the champion for a title match on the blue brand. He has been away from in-ring action since that match.
