Spider-Man: No Way Home TV Spot Features Jamie Foxx's New Electro - CBR

A new TV spot for Spider-Man: No Way Home features new footage of Jamie Foxx's villain, Electro.

Electro appears briefly in the clip, saying to whoever he is facing in battle, "You're not gonna take this way from me." This line was heard in the official trailer for No Way Home, but he is seen saying it in the TV spot in a closeup. Foxx first appeared as Max Dillon/Electro in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Foxx's reprisal of his role in The Amazing Spider-Man has been reported on previously and Foxx himself confirmed in 2020 that Electro would appear in the film, but it was not officially confirmed until his appearance in the trailer. It's also now confirmed that the character will appear in his classic, comics-accurate look in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Much of the footage featuring Electro occurs during the fight sequence at the Statue of Liberty, but when he charges up to attack, the electricity forming around him creates his signature star-shaped mask from the comics.

This is one of six new TV spots for Spider-Man: No Way Home, which all feature new footage from the film, including the battle between Holand's Spider-Man and Doc Ock and footage of The Lizard and J. Jonah Jameson. Other TV spots also center around the multiverse, including Peter Parker's surprise that "the multiverse is real."

With regards to the multiverse, the new trailer has only furthered fan speculation that Maguire and Garfield's own iterations of Spider-Man will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's third Spider-Man film. Many fans were also convinced that both previous Spider-Men were scrubbed from the trailer itself to keep the secret going. However, despite theories, rumors and possible leaks, Garfield adamantly denies his involvement in the film.

Some footage from the TV spots was not included in the second trailer, which released in November. The new trailer introduced the return of five major Spider-Man villains, all of which have appeared in previous franchises, including Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire and The Amazing Spider-Man films starring Andrew Garfield. The trailer featured Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Dr. Otto Octavius/Doc Ock, Foxx's Electro, Sandman and The Lizard.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home quickly broke records after its release in August 2021, becoming the most viewed trailer ever in just a 24-hour window, garnering nearly 355.5 million views in its first day online. The trailer itself confirmed the return of Alfred Molina's Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus, who first appeared in Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, and teased the debut of Green Goblin to the MCU.

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
