Spider-Man: No Way Home TV Spot Makes MJ Central To The Story - Screen Rant

Spider-Man: No Way Home's new TV spot reveals fresh footage of MJ (Zendaya) being central to the story. Directed by Jon Watts, the blockbuster will mark Holland's third standalone outing as the wall-crawler, following 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. Anticipation is building for the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home as marketing continues with the release of promo clips.

Picking up from the game-changing ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter will have to deal with the ramifications of his secret identity being revealed to the world. Desperate for help as his loved ones start to be endangered, the young hero asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for a magical solution. But the spell the sorcerer cast only makes things worse, bringing several villains from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man duology into the MCU. Joining Alfred Molina's Doc Ock are Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx's Electro, among others.

There are concerns over Spider-Man: No Way Home potentially losing sight of the fact that it's supposed to be Holland's film. In relation to its multiversal narrative, rumors are still persistent that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will appear as their respective versions of the friendly neighborhood hero. Admittedly, much of the discussions surrounding the movie is about their supposed involvement, and Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment refusing to confirm or deny such claims at this point only fuels the discussion about it. But looking at this TV spot and the past Spider-Man: No Way Home trailers, it seems like there's a clear focus on Holland's Peter Parker and his relationships within the MCU. That includes his romance with MJ, which started in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

While Spider-Man: No Way Home's marketing pretty much revealed its plot, it's still difficult to predict how the movie ends. Aside from the actual narrative, it's worth noting that the current deal between Marvel and Sony includes only this co-production, with provisions for Holland's Spider-Man to appear in projects within both of the studios' cinematic universes. Depending on the success of this film, it's not outside the realm of possibility that the companies renew their collaboration, but the creative teams likely went into the project assuming it'd be the last of its kind. However they chose to end Spider-Man: No Way Home, it's likely the ramifications will be significant for all involved.
