'AGT': Ansley Burns, 12, wows with a capella Aretha Franklin song after 'terrible' start - USA TODAY

Twelve-year-old singer Ansley Burns advanced to the next round of "America's Got Talent" after getting enthusiastic yes votes from all four judges on the NBC competition series.

Ansley sang Aretha Franklin's "Think," singing first to a backing track, then a cappella after judge Simon Cowell said the musical backing track wasn't "working for you."

The second version of Franklin's classic got the audience on its feet and clapping to the music.

But before she began singing without the backing track, Cowell offered her a drink of water. Ansley took a sip, and with wide eyes, said, "Well, that just happened."

Her performance earned effusive praise from all of the judges.

"I think your level of professionalism at 12 — I mean, I work with people three, four, five times your age who don't have the talent that you have in your little finger," judge Gabrielle Union told Ansley. "You are really something special."

Judge Julianne Hough said Ansley "absolutely crushed it," and Cowell praised Ansley's personality as well as her musical talent.

"We're gonna remember you; you have a great voice," Cowell said.
