Blackpink Is Now The Only Group To Claim Two Of The Five Biggest 24-Hour View Counts On YouTube - Forbes

This past Friday (June 26), Blackpink finally returned after a year of relative quiet (at least when it comes to their own releases) with the highly-anticipated “How You Like That,” the song that officially kicks off the next era of their time together. The band made the electro track available on streaming services and download stores the world over at the same time a music video arrived on YouTube for all to see.

Fans everywhere rushed to listen to the tune, but more seemed interested in watching and hearing, and the video racked up millions of views faster than any other in history. “How You Like That” was certified by YouTube just yesterday as the clip with the most watches in a 24-hour period, as the treatment was played 86.3 million times, which is a new record. In fact, it beats the previous best showing by more than 10 million views, a massive leap.

The arrival of “How You Like That” rearranges the list of the music videos which have earned the most views on YouTube in just 24 hours, and Blackpink steals a crown from another South Korean favorite thanks to their latest.

Blackpink is now the only name to appear twice inside the top five on the list of the videos that have garnered the most plays on YouTube in a single day. Their new treatment debuts as high as a title can hope to lift, while their 2019 video for single “Kill This Love” descends from No. 3 to No. 4. That clip racked up 56.7 million clicks in one day about a year ago, and it still stands as one of the most impressive performances of any visual on the site.

Before “How You Like That” arrived, BTS was the only act with two videos inside the top five, but now they only claim one rung. Their 2019 smash “Boy with Luv,” which features American pop singer Halsey, dips to No. 2, as it arrived with 74.6 million plays in its first 24 hours. Their more recent release, “On (Kinetic Manifesto),” was at No. 5 with 46.5 million views, but that sum is now only enough to place it at No. 6, ahead of two other uploads by the same septet.
