During June 16’s episode of America’s Got Talent auditions, dance group W.A.F.F.L.E Crew earned the night’s golden buzzer from judge Simon Cowell.
Their energetic and in-sync dance and stunt routine kept the judges and audience thoroughly entertained from start to finish. Although Cowell said dance acts are usually not his favorite on AGT, he said he chose to make WAFFLE Crew his golden buzzer pick due to their “Talent, determination, and everything I have been waiting for on this show. They delivered it.”

After WAFFLE Crew’s golden buzzer performance aired on America’s Got Talent, Cowell took to social media to spread the good news. In a tweet, he wrote, “Hello. I would like you to meet
@WaffleNYC, my golden buzzer act on #AGT this year. Amazing people. Amazing Talent. Please watch their audition.”
The Members of WAFFLE Crew Are From New York City & Used Dance as a Way to Get Out of Their Unsafe Neighborhoods
Before the group of young men took the stage for their audition, their video packaged introduced them to the viewers at home. At the start, one of the members said, “We’re all from different neighborhoods of New York City. Where we grew up at was really rough, people don’t even make it past 25… So we would put ourselves into the most safe environment, which was these dance centers. We would just spend all our time there, and then we would take all these moves we have and bring them to the train for money… It went from us making a few dollars, to us actually helping mom pay the bills.”
Continuing to share their story, one member of WAFFLE Crew said, “Bullets don’t have names, nor do they have directions. They’ll hit anybody that’s in the way.” Emotionally, the boys revealed that they recently lost a friend who had been a part of their team.
On stage moments before their audition, the group said that, if they won the $1 million AGT winners’ prize, they would use it to help their community back home. They said, “We already invest in our community with as little as our pocket money, so a million dollars right now, we would really, really put on for our city.”
WAFFLE Crew Are the 4th Act to Get a Golden Buzzer This Season
WAFFLE Crew is the latest audition act this season to be sent straight through to the live shows with the help of a golden buzzer.
On past weeks of audition episodes, 3 other acts received the coveted golden buzzer. During the season 15 premiere of America’s Got Talent, Voices of Our City choir got the first golden buzzer of the season. During episode 2, 10-year-old singer Roberta Battaglia stunned with a cover of “Shallow” by Lady Gaga earning a golden buzzer press from new judge Sofia Vergara; at the end of episode 3, Heidi Klum made singer and single mom Cristina Rae her golden buzzer selection.
WAFFLE Crew is the first dance group to get a golden buzzer this season, which should help them stand out once the live shows begin.
New episodes of America’s Got Talent air on Tuesday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
