We all see and hear so much regarding the methods of voting. I have been voting by mail for many years and support that method. I do think that a better method should be looked into. That is, voting on the internet.
Wow! Just think of the benefits. No need to go to voting places, no need to worry about what happens to the mail. And it will be instantaneous. Those who choose to vote on the internet will relieve the hardships of missing work, traveling to the polls and waiting and waiting. It will greatly relieve the mail system. I would expect that at least one-third or more would use the internet. It will greatly reduce the costs of voting at the polls or by mail.
Is the internet safe? Well, how much business do we do on the internet? How much in the way of payments and tax returns goes on the internet? Let's add the internet to voting and enjoy the simplicity and accuracy. Instantaneous voting — what could be better? The party you belong to is irrelevant.

Oh, the irony
In a speech in Scranton, the president tells us if we want to see what the Biden presidency will look like, we should look at the unrest in Portland and Minneapolis.
Apparently he doesn't understand irony. The social unrest he points to is going on under his watch because of policies and attitudes he promotes. He really is clueless.

A Funny Little Smile
I’m so tired of writing sad stories
Filling your head up with the blues
I think it’s time to spread some joy now
We all need some positive news!
Have you heard about the future?
It’s this place we’re going to see
With restaurants serving food
To your friends and family.
You’ll be allowed to take your mask off
Even sit with those you love
You can even have a cocktail
All things we’re dreaming of
I want to giggle all day long
And fill this need I have to laugh
I need the release that would come
From the perfect bubble bath.
I don’t want to sit idle
I’m sick of sitting it out
I need life to involve me
I need to carry some kind of clout.
Let’s you and I wake up tomorrow
With a brand new attitude
With a keen and positive outlook
And a much, much better mood.
So, if you have a funny little smile
That stretches across your face
Please put it on
That frown needs to be replaced.

Can we save these plants?
It may be a small thing, but about two years ago my wife and I noticed that nice shrubs had been planted around the perimeter of the power station located at the corner of Monterey and Clancy Lane. It seemed like a great idea to soften the look of the facility and the fencing surrounding it. Within six months, we noticed the gradual dying of many, if not most, of the shrubs, apparently due to lack of water. Soon the facility was surrounded by dead brown sticks. We commented to each other how easy it is to spend other people’s money which often results in a wasteful lack of care and attention.
As one might guess, over the past year or so, all of the plants were replaced with beautiful new green shrubs, which are now suffering the fate of the prior plantings. Of the fifty or so along Monterey, more than half are now dead. Who is making these decisions, and who is responsible to see that money is well spent? Are we in for a third planting next year?

A rebuttal to a rebuttal
I feel that Elizabeth Carnie (Aug. 15) is not living in the real world we all are. Our president couldn’t handle the pandemic he knew was coming. How many dead and not one word of empathy from him. Do you want your mail stopped? Do you believe in bullying and lying to us is the answer. This was a free country that was for the people by the people; those rights are being taken away. Suddenly we are all anarchistic and Marxists and socialists. I suggest you look up these words in the dictionary. How can you believe all these proven lies?
