Shawn Mendes confessed that it took him around five long years to finally propose to his ladylove Camila Cabello. While on a video, the 'Senorita' singer said that he was in love with Camila for five years but could never get himself to propose to her.

The 'Wonder' singer spoke about his fear of rejection in a video interview with Access Hollywood. "It takes a lot of courage to tell the woman that you love that you love her. I had five years of fear of getting rejected by her that just stopped me from doing it every time — or just confidence," he said.

Shawn also spoke about how he could finally put his heart on his sleeve after five years and propose to Camila. He mentioned, "I think, you know, it just took a lot. It took a long time of preparing. I mean, I had a five-year warmup to finally be able to tell her how I felt!"

For the uninitiated, Camila had also spoken about their love story on Instagram recenrly. Describing their equation, she shared, "I constantly have to confront my fears, my anxieties, my insecurities, my patterns of thinking, my beliefs about life and about myself."
