Different Versions Of BTS’s ‘Butter’ Chart As The Four Biggest Music Videos In Korea This Week - Forbes

BTS dominate YouTube in ways almost every other musical act in the world can only dream of, and they often rank among the most successful names on the platform when looking specifically at their home country of South Korea. Last week, they dominated with their latest music video and a performance of that track, and now, just one frame later, things are going even better. It’s clear that fans of the septet in the Asian nation simply can’t get enough of “Butter,” no matter what form it comes in.

This week, BTS occupy the highest four spaces on YouTube’s ranking of the most-watched videos in South Korea, and all of the band’s successful uploads are “Butter”-related.

Leading the way for a second stint is the actual “Butter” video, which drops precipitously in terms of views, but which still manages to hold on to the throne. Last time around, the visual opened with 12.5 million plays, while in its second seven-day period on the website, it racked up just 3.24 million

New at No. 2 on YouTube’s weekly chart (in South Korea) is BTS’s music video for the “Hotter” remix of “Butter,” which followed a week after the original tune. The band didn’t just dole out a new version of the tune, they recorded a new video as well, and it earned 2.59 million plays.

Debuting at No. 3 on the ranking is a video uploaded by BTS of them performing the cut and nailing the dancing, which is why the clip is titled “[CHOREOGRAPHY] BTS (방탄소년단) 'Butter' Special Performance Video.” That post was viewed 2.15 million times in the previous tracking frame.

Down from No. 2 to No. 4 is BTS’s performance of “Butter” at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, their first showing of the smash. The number of plays the post earned decreases by more than 50% week-over-week, and in its second frame on the list it racked up just 1.24 million.

Amazingly, those four videos don’t tell the whole story when it comes to the success of “Butter” on Youtube in South Korea. The band almost occupied half of all the spots inside the top 10 this week, as their performance of the song on Good Morning America starts at No. 11 on the weekly chart, arriving with 543,000 plays. New at No. 13 is the band’s performance of the new global giant on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which was viewed 444,000 times in the last week.
