Eternals Trailer Shows New Gilgamesh Powers In Deviant Fight - Screen Rant

A new trailer for ChloƩ Zhao's Eternals reveals Gilgamesh punching a Deviant in the face and shows more of the team's powers. Eternals is the next entry in the MCU, which sets up ten brand new characters to the franchise with a diverse array of actors including Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Ma Dong-seok, Lia McHugh, and Barry Keoghan. In addition, Game of Thrones' Kit Harington will make his MCU debut as Dane Whitman, the character who becomes Black Knight.

The film is said to take place within two time frames where immortal beings known as Eternals wage a battle against the sinister Deviants, a destructive race of beings who threaten life on Earth. The group must band together to fight that common threat after hiding in plain sight with humans for centuries and helping to shape their very existence. The Eternals were created by comics legend Jack Kirby in 1976 and have been a regular fixture in the comics ever since, but this is their first-ever big-screen appearance.

Today, Marvel dropped a new trailer for the film, which showcases Ma Dong-seok's Gilgamesh using his powers to punch an attacking Deviant. There have been teases of the various powers that the Eternals have, some with laser eyes, some with special weapons, and others with technical powers, but this is the first time we've seen Gilgamesh in action. The trailer also reveals new looks at other characters as well and proves to be a more action-oriented peek at the film thus far. Take a look below:

Eternals is rumored to be one of the longest MCU films to date, potentially clocking in at 156 minutes, which is longer than Avengers: Infinity War if accurate. The film has also garnered a PG-13 rating, which is par for the course on all Marvel films to date, noting "fantasy violence and action, some language and brief sexuality." In Russia, the Eternals has received a "mature" rating due to it's portrayal of an openly gay character.

With both Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and now Venom: Let There Be Carnage already out to audiences, the next big comic-book film push will be from Eternals, so expect to see the promotional campaign ramp up significantly. This new trailer will be one of many that highlight the various characters, themes and heroics of the film, seeking to draw in as many people as possible. The theatrical-only release may have the Marvel stamp on it, but the characters are all new to casual audiences who don't read comics, so it has its work cut out in terms of giving fans a reason to turn out beyond brand loyalty.
