Eternals Has Lowest MCU Rating Since Thor 2 - TheGamer

Eternals currently has a review score of 72%, making it one of the worst-rated MCU movies ever ahead of its release next month.

Disney was able to start up its MCU machine after almost two years on the sidelines over the summer via the release of Black Widow. That was followed up with Shang-Chi, and we've still got Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home to look forward to. The wait for what's next was extended slightly earlier this month when Disney revealed it is delaying the release dates of most other MCU movies starting with the ones arriving in 2022.

Don't think about that for now and focus on what's next. On November 5, 2021, Eternals will arrive exclusively in theaters. Some lucky reviewers have seen it already, but don't worry, you'll find no spoilers here. Just news on the current review score Eternals has over at Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, it's not that great.

Well, actually, that's not strictly true. Eternals currently has a score of 72% which most studios would be more than happy with. For an MCU movie though, it's not great. In fact, at the time of typing this, only two MCU movies have a lower rating on the site. Thor: The Dark World, and The Incredible Hulk which many Marvel fans don't even consider a part of the MCU due to the casting changes.

Eternals currently shares the joint-third-worst spot on the list of 26 MCU movies with Iron Man 2. It has dipped below that 72% watermark as reviews have continued to pour in, and has also risen to 75%, albeit very briefly. There will obviously be a lot more reviews of Eternals posted in the coming weeks, so only time will tell where it ends up.

It's also possible that a movie's critic score can change years after it is released. Decades, in fact, which is what happened to Citizen Kane earlier this year. A review written in 1942, the year Citizen Kane was released, was discovered and added to Rotten Tomatoes. That resulted in the movie, which is considered by many to be one of the best ever made, losing its 100% rating and dropping to 99%.
