Dwayne Johnson explains why Black Adam can defeat Superman in a fight. As promised, the first proper look at Black Adam was released at DC FanDome 2021, which resurrected discussions about the character's hypothetical one-on-one with Clark Kent. The pair has fairly similar power sets and they both exist in the DCEU, so crossing paths is not outside the realm of possibility. If that time finally comes, many are wondering who's going to emerge victoriously.
Black Adam was long in development, and for years it was stuck in production limbo. Throughout this, Johnson was attached to play the character as it's his passion project. So, he worked hard getting the film off the ground, and earlier this year, production finally kicked off with Jaume Collet-Serra directing. Aside from its titular character, it will also see the debut of the Justice Society of America composed of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo). With principal photography now done, Johnson was able to share a snippet of the blockbuster at DC FanDome 2021.
A fan suggested on Twitter that given the anti-hero's powers, only Superman can Black Adam kill him. Johnson replied, politely pointing out that the Man of Steel's "greatest weakness isn't kryptonite, it's magic." Meanwhile, "Black Adam's greatest superpower is magic." He admitted that both are unstoppable forces, but Black Adam won't have any problem with killing, unlike Superman. Check out the full tweet below:
Fico, thank you my friend.

Remember, Superman’s greatest weakness isn’t kryptonite, it’s magic.
Black Adam’s greatest superpower is magic.
They both fly at light speed.
They both are unstoppable forces.
But only one will kill the other.
And we know who that is. #BlackAdam https://t.co/nCPUCItqQK

This isn't the first time that Johnson commented on the matter. Back in July, he broke down the difference between Black Adam and Superman. It's no secret that his anti-hero is often viewed as a darker and morally loose version of the Last Son of Krypton. So, comparing them with each other makes sense. He had something similar to say but also emphasized the fact that Superman has a code that he abides by, which is not to kill. This is the reason why the demise of General Zod (Michael Shannon) in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel remains to be a controversial topic of discussion. Meanwhile, Black Adam would have no problems outright murdering villains. But it's curious if he'll at least consider not going for the kill against Superman, knowing full well that he's not bad at all.
With the upcoming arrival of Black Adam in the DCEU, there's a possibility that Warner Bros. could actually make this hypothetical fight come to life on the big screen. But first, the studio needs to decide the future of Superman in the franchise. After Zack Snyder's Justice League, Henry Cavill's superhero has no other confirmed appearances at this point, with Man of Steel 2 still unconfirmed. Even after DC FanDome 2021, which lays out the next couple of years for the franchise, there still wasn't any update regarding this issue.
