Prince Harry was spotted mingling with athletes, volunteers and event organisers today at the Virgin Money London Marathon. The Duke of Sussex will be giving out medals to the athletes who participated in the sporting event. Meanwhile, his wife Meghan Markle remains at home and is just moments away from giving birth.
Prince Harry's appearance has dismissed rumours that Meghan is due to give birth today.
Today is said to be Meghan's due date, as the heavily pregnant Duchess anticipates the arrival of her first child.
Harry will meet volunteers and present medals to the marathon and wheelchair winners, including those who triumphed in the World Para Athletics World Championship Marathon.
The Duke of Sussex took photos with USA's Dan Romanchuk and Switzerland's Manuela Schar as they celebrate their victory at the Men's and Women's Wheelchair event at the London Marathon.
With the birth of his baby due, Kensington Palace did not announce his attendance in case he was no longer able to go to the event.
A spokesperson for the Duke said: “He had always planned to go but with the birth of his child due it was not announced in advance in case he was no longer able to attend. He is pleased he is able to attend.”
Harry also met volunteer medics from St John ambulance and other community organisers who participated in one of London's biggest sporting events.
A Royal Household statement said: "The Duke of Sussex will be attending the London Marathon today.
"During his visit the Duke will meet volunteers, watch some of the runners and present medals to the London Marathon and Wheelchair winners, including the World Para Athletics World Championship Marathon."
Meghan and Harry announced they will be keeping details of their royal birth private.
The Duchess is unlikely to give birth at Lindo Wing, unlike her sister-in-law Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, who gave birth to all three of her children at St Mary's hospital.
Over 40,000 runners participated in the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon.
Sir Mo Farah came in fifth with a time of 2:05:38 behind Kenyan winner Eliud Kipchoge who crossed the finish line at 2:02:36.
