Taylor set the records straight on those rumors though. (Well, kinda.) On her Instagram, Taylor wrote about the deluxe tracks on her record and said “It’s Time to Go” is about leaving something that no longer serves you. The post, in full:

The first is a song about a girl who stayed forever in the exact spot where her heart was broken, completely frozen in time. ‘It’s Time to Go’ is about listening to your gut when it tells you to leave. How you always know before you know, you know?”

Taylor hasn’t addressed any Karlie rumors, but in a personal essay written for Elle titled “30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30,” she basically said that some connections aren’t meant to last forever. “It’s sad but sometimes when you grow, you outgrow relationships. You may leave behind friendships along the way, but you’ll always keep the memories,” she wrote in March 2019.
