Vibe’s agency MAJOR9 has shared another statement about the chart manipulation accusations that were made against the duo.
In November 2019, Block B’s Park Kyung accused several artists, including Vibe, of engaging in sajaegi (the manipulation of music charts and streaming numbers by an artist or agency). In January 2020, SBS’s investigative journalism program “Unanswered Questions” aired a special dealing with the issue of digital sajaegi. Following the broadcast, MAJOR9 released a statement saying that the broadcast was misleading and explained why sajaegi would not be profitable to them.
On the January 2, 2020 broadcast of “Unanswered Questions,” the show followed up on their past episode about sajaegi and explained that Park Kyung had been fined for defamation for his sajaegi accusations.
In response to the follow-up report by the program, MAJOR9 released a statement to thank the show and explain their efforts to clear Vibe of the accusation. Read the statement below.
Hello, this is MAJOR9.
First, we would like to once again thank the many people who treasure and show unchanging support for Vibe and our other artists.
We have seen the follow-up report about the content that aired on SBS’s “Unanswered Questions” on January 4, 2020 through the program’s January 2, 2021 broadcast.
We at MAJOR9 have worked hard during approximately one year since the initial broadcast to prove the falsity of the accusations and to rectify the false image of sajaegi that was placed on our agency’s artists.
To this day, we are continuing to taking all possible measures according to both civil and criminal laws, such as making requests to investigative bodies to investigate for proof that the accusations that were presented in the broadcast have nothing to do with us and asking music streaming sites and related institutions to cooperate with the investigation.
Regarding the report that was broadcasted belatedly, we would like to thank the production team of SBS’s “Unanswered Questions” for making the difficult decision to release a follow-up report and providing an opportunity to rectify the falsities at least now.
We hope that the follow-up report from SBS’s “Unanswered Questions” will become an opportunity for making fair judgements without adding fuel to speculations as if they are true and that other singers who will spend their entire lives doing music will not be victims of speculations and stigma.
Moreover, we hope that in 2021, there will be days that we can come together for the happy and joyful music and stages that have been put aside for now.
We at MAJOR9 will continue to do our best as the management company of Vibe and other artists.
Thank you.
