DETROIT – For many struggling families the $600 stimulus checks could not have come soon enough.
They are finally starting to trickle into bank accounts.
Here is how to make sure you get your check.
First off, direct deposits have already started. You might want to check any bank account previously shared with the federal government for tax purposes. Your stimulus check may have already been deposited.
For those receiving physical checks, the first round of checks was reportedly mailed out on Dec. 30.
If you are expecting a check in the mail, remember that the United States Postal Service is still dealing with a big increase in mail from the holidays, so there could be a delay.
Otherwise, if the Internal Revenue Service has your current banking information, you’re all set. There’s nothing else you need to do to get the money owed to you.
There are several scams going around with people claiming to be from the IRS. The IRS will not be contacting people to ask for personal information by calling them or through text messages.
