EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: Rowan Atkinson stars in new Netflix comedy Man Vs Bee as bumbling housesitting dad Trevor whose rivalry with an insect causes chaos
Rowan Atkinson makes his TV comeback starring in new Netflix comedy Man Vs Bee as bumbling housesitting dad Trevor whose rivalry with an insect causes chaos.
In an exclusive first look of the new series, the Mr. Bean actor, 67, is taunted by a pesky bumblebee and lands himself in endless trouble as he tries to defeat his nemesis.
Family man Trevor is a new employee at House Sitters Deluxe and his first big job is a luxurious mansion filled with priceless artwork, classic cars, and an adorable dog, Cupcake.
But Trevor is left out of his depth after an unwanted guest irritates him and as he struggles to triumph over the bee, he not only injures himself but causes destruction to the million-pound home he's been paid to look after.
In MailOnline's exclusive clip, Rowan's character Trevor is seen in court, being told by the judge that he's been found guilty of several crimes including dangerous driving, destruction of priceless artwork, and arson.
When asked if he has any last words, Trevor mumbles: 'You see… there was this bee…'
Viewers quickly learn Trevor has taken on the job of housesitting to impress his daughter, who he wants to take on holiday.
Trevor does his best to reassure the homeowners that 'everything's fine' while they're away but after smashing pricey ornaments, setting the kitchen on fire, and blowing up the garden, there's no chance he'll be let off scot-free.
Trevor doesn't escape unscathed, slamming his hand in a grand piano, whacking his knee with a hammer, and almost crashing his car, causing him to scream at the bee: 'Get off, get out, die!'
In this nine-part series, which will be available to stream on Netflix from June 24, Rowan returns to the small screen in an almost silent comedy reminiscent of his global hit Mr. Bean.
The Blackadder actor created the show alongside screenwriter and producer, Will Davies, who he last worked with on 2011 film Johnny English Reborn.
Crazy Rich Asians actress Jing Lusi, 37, stars alongside Rowan, as well as Green Wing's Julian Rhind-Tutt, 54, and After Life actor Tom Basden, 42.
Man Vs Bee is Rowan's debut series for Netflix, which is his first work in four years following the last of the Johnny English film series.
The comic, famed for Mr. Bean, Blackadder, and his roles in Hollywood films Four Weddings and a Funeral and Love Actually, has amassed over 129million Facebook followers on the official Mr. Bean page.
