Taika Waititi Roasts Thor: Love And Thunder Trailer Closed Captioning - GameRant

Ever since the latest trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder was released, it seems to be all that Marvel fans can talk about. From the first look at Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher to Russell Crowe's Zeus, the trailer had a lot to offer. However, director Taika Waititi has stumbled upon something comical in the form of automated closed captioning on Twitter, and he is now poking fun at it on his official account on the social media platform.

The latest trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder was posted by Marvel on its social media channels, including Twitter. When Waititi watched the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer on the social platform, he noticed that the captions on the video were off and even incorrect in several scenes. He then took it upon himself to take a screenshot of the worst automated captions generated by the platform and posted it on his Twitter account, all while poking fun at artificial intelligence.

It all began when Waititi first noticed that Gorr the God Butcher's ominous threat about how “all gods will die” was turned into “oh gosh, well die” by Twitter's auto-captioning in the latest Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. He took a screenshot of the scene and shared it, along with the caption, “Lol if the robots are planning to take over the world they're going to need to learn different accents. Nice one, @twitter technology!” Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end, and there were several other comical captions that showed up in the rest of the trailer.

The new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer begins with Waititi's Korg narrating the story of Chris Hemsworth's Thor and how he has defeated several villains, saved Earth from many threats, and even gone from “a dad bod, to a god bod.” Twitter's auto captioning, however, believed it was a “dad bought” and “Goddard.” Some of the other misfires included a conversation between Natalie Portman's Jane Foster and Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, and at one point the platform was unable to generate any captions, and the message “could not transcribe the audio” showed up on the screen.

It seems like the issue has been fixed since Waititi's series of messages. Playing the trailer on Twitter now reflects all the captions in proper order. Or perhaps it varies by region and the captions are unable to be transcribed properly in certain countries. Either way, it seems like Waititi had a blast while watching the trailer for his upcoming Marvel Studios film.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on July 8, 2022.
