The first trailer of upcoming Disney Plus Hotstar series Secret Invasion, starring actors such as Samuel L Jackson and Emilia Clarke, has dropped. The promo offers an exciting first look into the MCU’s phase 5, which began with Paul Rudd film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The clip sees Jackson’s Nick Fury come back to earth for another deadly battle with the skrulls. As Fury is pitched as the lone ageing warrior, we also catch a glimpse of British stars such as Martin Freeman, Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, who are all playing pivotal roles in the series. Freeman has earlier been seen in the Black Panther films, while this is Colman and Clarke’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While the visuals promise action and excitement, one of the best things about the trailer is that despite showing so many faces up front, it keeps the audience guessing about its narrative arc, therefore keeping the suspense element of the series intact.
The official synopsis of the show reads, “In Marvel Studios’ new series Secret Invasion, set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity. Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.”
Secret Invasion will begin streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar from June 21.
