The Joker Introduced His Version of Batman's Best Idea - CBR - Comic Book Resources

For almost as long as there has been a Caped Crusader, there has been a Clown Prince of Crime to terrorize him at every turn. Thankfully, Batman is not only more capable than the Joker, but he also frequently has his nemesis outnumbered. Unfortunately, that might not be the case for much longer, especially if Joker Incorporated is anywhere near as widespread as its inspiration.

After helping dismantle Professor Pyg's latest gruesome operation in Batman Incorporated #7 (by Ed Brisson, Michele Bandini, Rex Lokus, and Clayton Cowles), Raven Red takes some time to reach out to his father. Unfortunately, he won't be able to make his trip back home. Since Raven is a part of Batman Incorporated, that news isn't all that surprising or upsetting to his father. What is, however, is the sudden appearance of a gun-toting rodeo clown, especially because it is likely the last thing the Man-of-Bats ever sees.

Joker Incorporated Made Its Official Debut

Batman Incorporated 7 Man-of-Bats answered door

While fans had previously been promised the arrival of Joker Incorporated as well as the first full appearance of the menacing Dusty Bronco, it is hard to imagine many expected it would come with the apparent death of William Great Eagle. Better known as Man-of-Bats, William entered the Prime Earth continuity of the DC Universe in 2011's Batwoman #2 (by J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman). Much like his son Charles (Raven Red) would be later on, he was inspired by the Caped Crusader, and it wasn't long after he took up a cowl for himself that Batman Incorporated became the most prominent aspect of his life.

Now that it looks like William has been killed, the Bat-Family are in for a horrifying glimpse of what their clown-faced counterparts have in store for them. Of course, the heroes of Batman Incorporated don't even understand what it is they are up against at this point apart from the fact that Wang Baixi (Bat-Man), stumbled into their scheme. From what has been revealed up until now, fans can pinpoint Wang Jiali, aka Alpaca, as a member of Joker Incorporated. This helps to paint a picture of how widespread the Bat-Family's opposition is, yet knowing a couple of names out of what is at least half a dozen crime-addled clowns is hardly any consolation for what their presence implies.

Joker Incorporated is a Tremendous Foil to the Batman Family

Batman Incorporated gives Dusty Bronco his first full appearance.

Just as Batman Incorporated gave Bruce Wayne and his allies a proper network to relay information and assistance, it is beginning to look like Joker Incorporated is operating on much the same level. They have already infiltrated the homes and lives of two different members of the Batman Family, and those are just the victims that fans are currently aware of. Presumably, Joker Incorporated's plans didn't end with Man-of-Bats, meaning it is only a matter of time before another hero is set up to take the ultimate fall at their hands.

Making matters all that much worse is the fact that so far the Bat-Family has only really encountered a single member of Joker Incorporated. And, while select heroes might be aware of Alpaca's tactics, that does nothing to inform them of the larger threat lurking in the shadows. Luckily, the Bat-Family has proven to be the most resourceful team of heroes in the DC Universe time and time again. Hopefully, that will be enough to see them tear Joker Incorporated apart before it can become a permanent fixture of their world.
