BTS member Jung Kook made history almost immediately with the release of his solo single, "Seven," which marks his first official drop without his bandmates. The highly-anticipated track exceeded all expectations, breaking records in just its first day.

"Seven" became an instant streaming sensation, debuting at the top of Spotify's daily global chart, arriving with just under 16 million plays in its first 24 hours on the platform. That sizable start made Jung Kook's the first South Korean solo musician to score a No. 1 streaming win on the site worldwide, according to HitsDailyDouble.

Those 16 million streams also made sure that “Seven” earned the biggest debut of 2023 among all artists. The track also became the largest opening for any single by a male solo musician. The smash also snags the record for the largest launch for any collaboration, as "Seven" features rapper Latto.

With almost 16 million plays worldwide, "Seven" outperformed its closest competitor several times over. On the same day, Myke Towers' "Lala” garnered an additional 6.5 million streams, coming in a distant second place.

The dominance of "Seven" extended beyond the global chart, as it also claimed the top position on Spotify's charts in numerous individual countries. In the United States, the track debuted at No. 1 on the most-streamed songs list, making Jung Kook the first K-pop act of any kind to achieve this milestone. Although "Seven" isn't strictly a K-pop song, Jung Kook is primarily known for his output in the genre.

Unlike some releases that experience a sharp decline after their initial surge, "Seven" continued to perform exceptionally well following its first day. In its second 24-hour period on Spotify, Jung Kook's hit garnered an additional 13 million plays worldwide, easily maintaining its position at the top of the chart.
