FANS of the iconic K-pop star G-Dragon are praying for a comeback after the singer has been arrested on drug charges in South Korea.

Details of the investigation are scarce but the Incheon Metropolitan Police opened a case against the singer, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong.

G-Dragon, a member and leader of the extremely popular boy group BigBang, is often labeled as one of the "Kings of K-pop."

"We are currently investigating the case for violating the Narcotics Control Act," read a statement from police. "We will quickly investigate the charges.

"Please understand that we cannot reveal specific details of the investigation, such as the type of drug."

Under South Korean law, citizens are prohibited from using drugs such as cannabis - even in countries where those drugs are legal.

Several high-profile K-pop artists have landed themselves in legal trouble for using marijuana recreationally.

Notable arrests included Gangnam Style singer, Psy, and T.O.P., a former member of BigBang, who was charged with possession and usage of marijuana in 2017.

Fans shared their reactions to the news on social media, with many coming to support G-Dragon.

"Your fans love you Jiyong, we'll always stand beside you," wrote one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"I love and trust you #GDRAGON," wrote another person. "VIP let's wait for our king!"

VIP is the name given to fans of BigBang.

"Yes, we love you @IBGDRGN and we're gonna keep on loving you, nothing will stop us."

Others hoped the allegations weren't true.

"GDragon this is not the comeback you promised us this year," wrote a fan. "Please let it be false."

"These G-Dragon accusations are too much for me," wrote another fan.

YG Entertainment released a statement revealing that their exclusive contract with G-Dragon had expired in June.

"[G-Dragon] is currently not an artist under our agency, so it is difficult for us to make an official response," the agency told, Xportsnews.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to YG Entertainment for comment.
