NBA Trade Idea Sends Blazers PG Malcolm Brogdon to Division Rival - Blazer's Edge

kotortopo.blogspot.com

On Friday, the NBA will officially begin “trade season” when many players’ exemptions to be traded will be lifted.

This could open doors for many teams, including the Portland Trail Blazers, who could be a major player in this year’s trade market.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley believes there’s a possibility that the Blazers could trade Malcolm Brogdon to the Utah Jazz.

Neither the Blazers nor Malcolm Brogdon seem in a hurry to find him a new home, but that still seems like the logical next step for both. Portland is in the infant stage of a full-scale rebuild, and the soon-to-be 31-year-old Brogdon belongs with a club that’s much closer to contention. Not to mention that subtracting Brogdon would mean adding developmental minutes for No. 3 pick Scoot Henderson to handle.

If the Blazers shop Brogdon, rival executives see his trade value as “a protected first-round pick in this year’s draft,” per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

The Trade

The trade proposed is merely an idea, but it gives some insight into what the Blazers could get for Brogdon, should they choose to deal him.

The Jazz seems like an unlikely destination for Brogdon, considering the fact that Utah is also rebuilding like Portland. However, if the Blazers can get a future first-round pick and perhaps another player with upside, the team can continue to benefit from the Damian Lillard deal as it ventures into the future.
