WWE SmackDown‘s preliminary viewership decreased on December 15.
According to Programming Insider, 2.15 million viewers watched the show on Friday night, and it drew a 0.50 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The preliminary viewership is down from last week’s episode, when 2.29 million viewers tuned in. The demo also dropped from last week‘s episode, which drew a 0.57 rating in the same demographic.
We’re certain these numbers will add no fuel to the fire for the ongoing needle-mover debate between Roman Reigns and CM Punk in WWE.
What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?
This week’s show kicked off with the return of Roman Reigns for an in-ring promo. Reigns declared Solo Sikoa is next in line to be Tribal Chief. Randy Orton comes out and challenges Reigns to a match for the title.
Two tournament matches took place on the show, which saw Kevin Owens and NXT’s Carmelo Hayes advance to the semi-finals against each other next week.
The main event of the show saw Randy Orton defeat Jimmy Uso after LA Knight prevented Solo Sikoa from interfering. Following the match, Reigns attacked Knight, and there was a three-on-two Bloodline beatdown until AJ Styles made his surprise return to even the odds. Styles shockingly attacked Knight afterward to end the show.
