If you're an Alaskan in COVID-19 quarantine, you can still vote. Here's how. - Anchorage Daily News

There are two safe ways to vote under a COVID-19 quarantine in Alaska.

Under state law, that person can’t be “the voter’s employer, an agent of the voter’s employer, or an officer or agent of the voter’s union.” It also can’t be a candidate.

Whoever goes to the polls on your behalf will need to ask a poll worker for a special needs ballot.

They will need to fill out some paperwork before getting a blank ballot to bring to you. Once you have filled out your ballot, signed it and sealed the privacy envelope, the same person needs to return the ballot to the polling station by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

If you don’t have someone who can pick up a ballot on your behalf, there’s another way to vote under quarantine, but you need a computer with a printer, and either a fax machine or a smartphone with a fax application.

Until 5 p.m. Monday, you can ask the Division of Elections to email you a blank ballot. The application form needs to be printed out and signed, then emailed back to the Division of Elections. (Use a smartphone to take a picture of it.)

Once election workers process your application, they will send you an “electronic transmission ballot” that you need to print out. There’s no way to vote online.

That finished ballot can be either mailed back to the Division of Elections — this is not recommended, given the time involved — or faxed back, using a fax machine or a smartphone app.
