Sure, real hedgehogs have extremely dumb legs and teeth too (and their shoes are atrocious), but hopefully the animators behind Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog can land on a character design more pleasing to thine eye by next year. After a swift backlash to the film’s first trailer, director Jeff Fowler reassured fans Sonic will get some dental work (and face work and body work …) as fast as possible. On Friday, Fowler tweeted, “Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right,” along with a new release date: February 14, 2020. Part of us hopes they make Sonic’s teeth even more humanlike: Invisalign, iced-coffee stains, maybe some kale crammed in there. Either way, hopefully you and your Valentine’s Day date will both enjoy the new design.
