Democratic candidates push back on idea of Joe Biden as nominee ahead of New Hampshire primary
Two Democrats on the New Hampshire primary ballot are trying to convince voters to choose them rather than write in President Joe Biden.Supporters and even some opponents showed up at the Nashua Senior Center for Dean Phillips town hall."If he wrote you off, why would you write him in?" Phillips said.Phillips and Marianne Williamson took shots at Biden as their campaigns continue in New Hampshire."How is it that the Biden administration is slapping you in the face saying your primary isn't going to happen, your vote is meaningless, and there's still going to be people lining up to vote for that person?" Williamson said.In a one-on-one interview with News 9, Phillips said he's hearing from voters who do not want a rematch of 2020."People do not want another matchup between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. People are really horrified by the division and the dysfunction and are really sick and tired of it," Phillips said.The cost of living, care and the war in Israel and Gaza, some of the top issues on voters' minds. Phillips town hall got tense at one point, with a man being escorted out.Some lesser-known candidates who are running against Phillips showed up to his rally, and the Congressman invited them up on stage and introduced them to the crowd.Williamson spoke at Manchester Community College and took voter questions.
