Park Min Young has been charming fans with her performance in ‘Marry My Husband’, wherein she attempts to school her cheating boyfriend. Beyond the camera, in real life too, the actress is courting controversy connected to her alleged ex-boyfriend.
On January 15, Dispatch reported that Park Min Young had received ₩250 million KRW (about $190,000 USD) from her ex-boyfriend Kang Jong Hyun. The news outlet reportedly produced evidence stating that the money was disguised as 'living expenses' and routed to Park Min Young's account through a complicated three-step process.
Not the one to be bogged down by these reports, Park Min Young shared a post about positivity on social media, "Sick of it all. However, I believe that the truth always prevails, and now I have the heart to guard the bullets. Don’t you worry." She also shared happy selfies accompanying the post and fans hailed her strong spirit in the eye of the storm.
"We will support you always," wrote a fan, while another comment read, "beautiful words beautiful soul beautiful inside and out,that's our queen,Park Min Young-ssi..saranghaeyo MinYoung-ssi." Expressing support, a user wrote, "Don't worry unnie. We never stopped believing in you. You are the pride of your beans." "We are with you, Rachel! Slay them all! ❤️ You are KangJiWon, after all," read another comment on Park Min Young's post.
Her agency, Hook Entertainment, had also instantly sprung into action and issued a statement defending the actress against the alleged report. "Actress Park Min Young was investigated in February 2023 due to the fact that Kang Jong Hyun had used her bank account. Through the investigation, it was proven that Park Min Young hadn’t done anything illegal and that she had never profited from taking part in something illegal. The ₩250 million KRW (about $190,000 USD) reported in the article was used by Park Min Young’s bank account by Kang Jong Hyun. It wasn’t used for Park Min Young’s expenses."
Hoping for the defamation to end, her agency added, "Park Min Young has been accused of many things that aren’t true. Still, the actress accepted the criticism, regrets her past decisions, and is reflecting on her actions. She is focusing on her career as she feels it is her responsibility as an actor to (make great projects). We hope that the groundless speculation stops and that the defamation no longer continues."
