King Charles Reads Get Well Cards Sent to Buckingham Palace - Town & Country

King Charles is continuing to take a step back from his public-facing duties amidst his cancer treatment, but today, Buckingham Palace shared new photographs and video of the King reading get well cards that have been sent to him.

"Following the announcement of the King’s cancer diagnosis, the Correspondence Team at Buckingham Palace have received more than 7,000 letters and cards form across the world," the Palace said in a new social media post. "The King has been sent a selection in his daily red box of paperwork. Many share their own experience with cancer. Others offer good wishes and advice for a speedy recovery. To everyone who took the time to write, THANK YOU. As His Majesty has said, 'such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.'"

In one card featuring a drawing of a dog wearing a veterinary cone, the caption read, "King Charles, at least you don’t have to wear a cone!" which caused the King to chuckle.

The photographs of Charles reading the cards were taken in 18th Century Room of the Belgian Suite at Buckingham Palace, ahead of King Charles's first in-person audience this week with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. During that meeting, the King told Prime Minister Sunak, "I have had so many wonderful messages and cards. It’s reduced me to tears most of the time."
