According to local media outlets such as Antara News on April 28th, the Immigration Office in Denpasar, Bali investigated 31 Korean cast and production crew members and one Indonesian celebrity for violating immigration regulations by conducting activities without proper permits.
Antara News reported that the program in question was the reality entertainment show “My Way Package Season 2: Pick Me in Bali”.
The investigated Korean cast members reportedly included Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, Apink’s Bomi, entertainer Choi Hee and actress Im Na-young, while the Indonesian citizen involved was reported to be Secret Number’s Dita Karang.
The cast and production crew arrived in Bali on April 21st to film a program introducing Bali. However, it was revealed that they entered on tourist visas without obtaining official filming permits or visas.
Suhendra, the head of Denpasar Immigration Office, explained, “Immigration enforcement teams received information about unauthorized filming and conducted an inspection on April 25th. After investigation, administrative actions including fines were imposed.“
During the process, cast and production crew had their passports confiscated and were detained in a hotel, with some cast members reportedly unable to return home on their scheduled departure date.
Currently, all cast members have left Indonesia, and the production crew is also expected to depart as they secure flights.
In response, Sandiaga Uno, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, emphasized that while promoting Bali through filming is acceptable, compliance with immigration regulations is necessary.
He stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy coordinated with the Immigration Office to ensure the swift release of the cast and production crew, emphasizing the importance of following the procedures for obtaining filming permits and visas, as they are easy to apply for and process quickly.
