Two South Korean show producers deported for unauthorised filming - ANTARA English

"They have been proven to misuse their stay permit and failed to complete the film production permit for foreigners in Indonesia,"
Denpasar (ANTARA) - Two producers of a reality show featuring South Korean celebrities, including Hyoyeon from Girls' Generation and Dita Karang from Secret Number, were deported by the Bali Immigration Office for unauthorised filming.

The two South Korean nationals, known by their initials as YJC, a male, and NJ, a female, were responsible for the film shooting of a reality show titled "Korea Package Season 2: Pick Me Trip in Bali", which took place without Indonesian government's authorisation.

"They have been proven to misuse their stay permit and failed to complete the film production permit for foreigners in Indonesia," Bali's Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Head Suhendra stated here on Sunday.

The producers were deported from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on board Malaysia Airlines to Seoul, South Korea, with a transit in Kuala Lumpur, he said.

Suhendra informed that the producers violated Article 75 Paragraph 1 of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, and their names will be blacklisted from entry to Indonesia.

The immigration office head disclosed that the two producers had applied for a film-making permit in Bali to the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul who, despite issuing its approval to the permit, required the producers to revise their application.

However, the producers did not follow up on the Embassy's request, he said.

The Embassy was then made aware of the South Korean filming crew and talents' arrival in Bali on April 21, 2024, prompting them to request assistance from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

The ministry forwarded the information to the Immigration Office in Bali, which took action against the producers and the filming team of 32 people.

The Immigration Office on Thursday (April 25) questioned the 31 South Korean filming team members and Dita Karang, one talent who is an Indonesian national, about the reality show shooting process.

The "Korea Package Season 2: Pick Me Trip in Bali" reality show featured South Korean celebrities from various girl bands, including Hyoyeon from Girls' Generation and Bomi from Apink.

South Korean presenter Choi Hee, singer Lim Na-young, and Indonesian member of Secret Number girl group Anak Agung Ayu Puspa Aditya Karang, known by her stage name Dita Karang, were also featured in the show.

Prior to the two producers' deportation on Sunday, the 15 South Korean filming crews and talents, as well as Dita Karang, returned to South Korea on Friday (April 26), while 14 others returned on Saturday (April 27).
