Veteran writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar recently took to social media to shower praise on Ajay Devgn’s latest sports drama, Maidaan. The film, which portrays the life of Indian football legend Syed Abdul Rahim, has garnered acclaim under the direction of Amit Sharma.
In a tweet posted on X (formerly Twitter), Javed lauded Maidaan as a ‘must-watch’ that will evoke a sense of pride in every Indian. Released on Eid, Maidaan has received glowing reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Fans have taken to social media platforms to shower praise on Ajay Devgn’s stellar performance in the film. However, Maidaan faces stiff competition at the box office from Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s action-packed venture, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The latter, being a quintessential masala action entertainer, has raced ahead in advance ticket sales. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has sold approximately 1,86,575 tickets, amassing Rs 4.8 crore, while Maidaan has earned Rs 1.1 crore domestically.
Starring Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh alongside Devgn, Maidaan is produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla.
