The ongoing dispute between HYBE and ADOR has further escalated. Amid the feud, ILLIT's label BELIFT LAB has filed a defamation lawsuit against ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin.
ILLIT's label sues ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin
On May 22, BELIFT LAB announced that they had filed a criminal complaint against ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin on the charges of interference with business and defamation. The label also refuted plagiarism allegations Min Hee-jin had levied against ILLIT. "We clearly state that the plagiarism allegations raised by Min Hee-jin against our artist ILLIT are not true. We have submitted evidence to the judicial authorities that can prove these allegations are false, and even if this may take some time, we will clarify the truth through proper legal procedures," the statement read.The label further stated, "The determination of whether intellectual property has been plagiarized should be made based on reasonable standards and procedures, not on unilateral and distorted interpretations. We express our regret that the efforts and achievements of our artists and members are being undermined by indiscriminate speculation and false information."
Additionally, BELIFT LAB requested netizens to stop all the "indiscriminate insults, malicious slander, spread of false information and defamatory attacks" against ILLIT.
For the unversed, ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin had cited that ILLIT's alleged similarity with NewJeans' concept as the main reason behind the sub-label's fallout with HYBE.
